WHO KNOWS, BABY?
Copyright ã 1999 Terry Dyke
Who knows, baby, who you're dancing with tonight?
I hope that he's got what it takes to please you
I know exactly how the story will begin
And how the light will strike you when he sees you.
No chorus of silver tongues
Could speak your secret name
No beauty so dangerous
When sparks fly from your flame!
Who knows, baby, where your conversation goes?
His pulse grows quicker at the mere suggestion
"How come so lucky?" he wonders while he waits
And knows no simple answer to this question.
He'll know the feeling when he walks into a room
Where traces of your perfume still linger
In a single heartbeat you made his world move
And never even had to lift a finger.
Well, I’ve been there, done that; we’ve gone this way before
Or must we still repeat your finest hour?
Bygones are bygones, just like they'll be with him
But not until you have him in your power.
