SHE KEEPS THE FLOWERS
Copyright ã 1999 Terry Dyke
Who would ever have thought that so much time could possibly
pass
Since the day that she filled that vase and put it on the mantle?
How the mem’ries gather like some evergreen bouquet
She keeps the flowers till the blooms wither away.
Till the blooms wither away, till the dreams bring a new day
She keeps the flowers till the blooms wither away.
Once there wasn’t a single moment she could consider her own
Now she travels the world outside, and inside there’s a sunrise
Sure that this arrangement stays on permanent display,
She keeps the flowers till the blooms wither away.
All the time in the world is not enough to do what you’d like
All the gold in the earth could never buy an extra moment
How to cope with that one is for each of us to say --
So she keeps the flowers till the blooms wither away.
